Recycling Award

Recycling Award

Out of the several Berkeley County schools that participated in the Operation Green Lid Program, James Rumsey Technical Institute recycled the most. The effort was run by Wayne Bennett (JRTI Science Teacher), David Morgan (Multimedia Publishing Teacher), and Kathy Morgan (Assistant Principal).

James Rumsey alone recycled two to four times as many recyclable items as any other school in Berkeley County. JRTI has, on average, delivered 12- 20 totes of recyclable materials per year, and has been participating in this event for over a year.

For their efforts, the Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority proudly awarded these three JRTI staff members with the 2017 Recycling Championship Award on behalf of the Recycling Coalition of WV. James Rumsey will be honored as the Berkeley County Recycling Champions. There are hopes that this is only the beginning of consecutive championship awards dedicated to James Rumsey Technical Institute.
