Automotive Technology

Automotive 

This course is 50% classroom studies and 50% lab activities. The Automotive Technician program is designed to provide you with a thorough understanding of the materials, methods and techniques used to repair a malfunctioning vehicle. Also included are extensive studies of electricity/electronics and computer systems found on current year cars.

Child Development Specialist

Students in this course will be provided training in skills required for child care occupations and related fields.

Opportunity to earn credit toward the Child Development Specialist credential is provided as well as participation in the EDGE program and articulation of credits toward an Associate Degree at West Virginia colleges and universities.

The program is designed to teach students the skills to design, build, troubleshoot, and maintain small to medium-size networks.

This program provides students the opportunity to enter the workforce and/or further their education in the computer networking field.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE

This course will provide an overview of the criminal justice system, its history, its philosophical development, and it’s contemporary configurations.

All students will become familiar with local and federal police departments, courts, and corrections facilities through field trips, police ride-alongs, and guest speakers.

Diesel Mechanics

Diesel

This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of diesel equipment technology. Students will become familiar with the proper use of hand and power tools, and precision measurement.

Students will study support systems and the heavy truck chassis concepts which are used in diesel equipment technology.

Electrical Technology
Instructor: Mr. Mike Maphis

Electrical

Students wishing to attend the Electrical Technology Program should have an excellent attendance record (less than 10 days missed the previous year), a tenth grade reading level, knowledge of the metric system, completed Algebra I, and an overall scholastic average of “C” or better.  Students shall be able to read a ruler or tape measure to 1/16th of an inch, not be color blind, and have manual dexterity for heavy lifting, bending, and working overhead.

Emergency and Fire Services Technology
Instructor: Mr. David Hess

Students enrolled in the Emergency and Fire Services program will experience the exciting world of  Emergency Services first hand.

Students are awarded certificates through West Virginia University Fire Service extension and RESA VIII.  Opportunities exist for employment in Fire Science, Ambulance Services, Dispatching, Security Agencies and many other fields. 

This is now offered as a two year course.
