Dear Prospective LPN Student:
Thank you for your interest in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at James Rumsey Technical Institute. The students for the 2012-2013 LPN class will be selected from the people who pass the ATI-TEAS Pre-Admission Test, which will be given in March 2012.
Preparation for the 2012-2013 class will begin in November 2011, with official testing occurring in March 2012. Please call the Jill S. Weekley Learning Center at (304) 754-9712 for the orientation schedule. Everyone must schedule and attend an orientation (approximately one hour).
The following information is provided for your convenience. Students accepted in the LPN program must meet the following prerequisites:
- Must be a high school graduate or have passed the GED Test
- Must score at least a 58.7 percentile on the ATI-TEAS Pre-Admission Test (minimum proficiency)
- Must be in good physical health as evidenced by a physical examination prior to the first day of class. A drug screen is required in addition to an FBI criminal background check. The current cost of the background check is $20.00
- Must be interviewed by the LPN staff
Our next class will begin July 2012. Class size is limited to 40 students. Practice testing will begin in January 2012; cost of the practice tests is $80.00. The LPN Official ATI-TEAS Pre-Admission test will be given March 2012. You may call the Jill S. Weekly Learning Center at (304) 754-9712 for further testing information. The cost of the LPN program is approximately $5800.00 for in-state students and $6000.00 for out-of-state students.

Steps For Entry into the LPN Program
- Attend LPN Orientation at the Jill S. Weekley Learning Center
- Basic Skills Testing during Jill S. Weekley Learning Center hours
- Begin self-paced classes or participate in group class (Times available at orientation)
- Schedule for Official Test (Cost will be discussed at LPN Orientation. Test given March 8, 15, and 22, 2012)
- Await scores(By the end of April)
- Interview in May (An interview will be scheduled for anyone who scores in the 58.7 percentile [minimum proficiency] or higher on the pre-admission test.)
- Await acceptance letter from LPN program
- Enroll in LPN program (Class begins mid-July 2012)
