On Friday, December 7, James Rumsey Technical Institute hosted an award ceremony to name this year’s Teacher of the Year. The ceremony was held in the morning before class at the school. Adult students from the Culinary Arts program used the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned by catering a full breakfast buffet for the event.

The three contenders for the award were Eric Armer, Electromechanical Technology Instructor, Venita Christman, Social Studies Instructor, and Jason Ware, Graphic Design Instructor. The three finalists are chosen from eight recipients of Teacher of the Term. Each nine-week term, students recommend teachers for the award. One high school and one adult program instructor are chosen. Three finalists are picked from this list and the faculty vote for Teacher of the Year.

This year’s Teacher of the Year for JRTI is Venita Christman. Venita has been teaching for twenty years. Sixteen of those years have been at JRTI. Congratulations Ms. Christman!
