POSITION: Truck Driving Instructor – 2 Positions Available

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Holds a high school diploma or GED/TASC and has completed six years of satisfactory recent work experience in the field of truck driving. (Training in an approved vocational school may substitute for some work experience.) Must pass basic academic skills test and NOCTI test in truck driving.

SALARY:

James Rumsey Technical Institute salary schedule relevant to level of education and years of experience. Minimum of $49,730.

EMPLOYMENT:

240 days

Technical Instructor

Responsibilities:          Enables each student to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible while adhering to all state and county policies and standards.

Accountable to:          Building Principal / Assistant Principal

  1. A teacher implements his/her program of study by:
    1. Establishing appropriate goals and objectives based upon appropriate state CSS’s.
    2. Exhibiting planning and organization.
    3. Making effective use of employee manual.
    4. Demonstrating and communicating knowledge of subject matter.
    5. Providing for individual differences.
    6. Seeking participation from business and industry members through craft committees.
    7. Participating in student youth organizations.
    8. Implementing technology skills.
  2. A teacher fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning by:
    1. Maintaining professional work habits and adhering to the Teacher Code of Conduct.
    2. Implementing a classroom management plan.
    3. Motivating intellectual curiosity in students.
    4. Providing a variety of teaching methods and materials.
    5. Arranging the classroom neatly and appropriately.
    6. Providing for participation by students.
    7. Appearing as an appropriate model for students.
    8. Adhering to health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  3. A teacher utilizes instructional management systems which increases student learning and maximizes times on task by:
    1. Planning lessons which incorporate major components of lesson design.
    2. Developing and implementing classroom rules, procedures, and consequences.
    3. Following established procedures as outlined in “Student Code of Conduct” and school policies.
  4. A teacher monitors student progress toward learning outcomes by:
    1. Providing a variety of evaluation techniques.
    2. Keeping accurate records of student progress and attendance.
    3. Using student data to address academic and performance needs
  5. A teacher maintains and upgrades his/her professional skills by:
    1. Keeping abreast of relevant trends and developments.
    2. Striving to make improvements recommended on observation and evaluation reports.
    3. Completing required course work and certifications.
    4. Collaborating with colleagues formally and informally.
  6. A teacher promotes and maintains positive pupil/teacher/parent relationships by:
    1. Maintaining confidentiality with student records and information.
