QUALIFICATIONS:

A vacancy exists for a Secretary I to serve James Rumsey Technical Institute Jill S. Weekley Adult Learning Center. The successful applicant is required to have a high school diploma or GED/TASC. Employees, regular and substitutes, who have not held the classification of Secretary, will be required to pass the state developed secretarial competency test. Arrangements will be made to test applicants. 

SALARY:

James Rumsey Technical Institute / Berkeley County Service Personnel salary scale, pay grade D, based on years of experience.

EMPLOYMENT:

Part time

Secretary I

Qualifications:  

The successful applicant is required to hold a high school diploma or GED/TASC and must pass the State of West Virginia Service Personnel Test for Secretary.

Job Description and Tasks:

  1. Completing records and reports accurately and on schedule.
  2. Handling routine correspondence accurately and efficiently.
  3. Performing general clerical tasks accurately and efficiently.
  4. Operating office machines such as computer, copier, fax machine, and multi-line telephone effectively and carefully.
  5. Receiving callers and referring them to the proper person pleasantly and promptly.
  6. Performing additional, reasonable job-related responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or director.

A Secretary I maintains positive work habits by:

  1. Adhering to appropriate safety, hygiene, and health standards and maintaining safety of work area.
  2. Adhering to schedules; being punctual.
  3. Demonstrating flexibility and adjusting to change.
  4. Adhering to implementing new responsibilities and assignments.
  5. Working cooperatively with the educational team as well as demonstrating courtesy and tact in interpersonal relations.
  6. Using good judgment and making sound decisions.
  7. Adhering to all school, county, and state policies and procedures.
  8. Demonstrating dependability.
  9. Understanding and implementing the job description.
  10. Performing additional, reasonable, job-related responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or director.
